When you paint outdoors, with your easel standing in the middle of a field, the clouds are constantly shifting from one second to the next. You try to capture the moment, knowing it exists for only an instant.

I had barely finished the painting when it began to rain. I packed everything away as quickly as I could and ran back through the very storm I had just painted.
