Raquel Asensio Margalejo
Working from lived landscapes,
she seeks to capture in her paintings that moment of immersion brought about by the natural world
— a sky, the sea, or others —
which can lead the viewer back to a connection with the present moment,
so necessary today, and provide an escape from everyday thoughts.
An immersion and connection with the outside world that invites us to connect with our inner selves.
Raquel Asensio Margalejo focuses her gaze on the landscape. Her fascination with the natural environment first led her to study Biology, and later to further develop this connection with nature through its pictorial representation, graduating from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze.

The importance of the natural world and our interaction with it first led me to study Biology, in order to understand and protect it, and later to value it so deeply that I wanted to represent it through art and painting. Although they may seem like two distant disciplines, to me personally they are two sides of the same coin.
